How to Burn Fat after 40.

My FASTer Way to Fat Loss Journey.


After years of following a few FASTer Way to Fat Loss coaches on instagram, I finally decided to take the plunge. After decades of dieting, weight fluctuations, and not feeling so great in my own skin, I signed up for a 6 week round at 9pm the night before it started! Nothing like last minute! But honestly, I was like - What do I have to lose? (and boy did I REALLY lose!)




But before we get into all that, let's begin with some basics. I am an RN by trade, traditional business own by day, and had been working with a healthy living company for the last year. While I consider myself a seasoned "dieter" ( I mean I have tried them all), I was also familiar with anti-inflammatory type foods and had been moving towards gluten and dairy free for about 9-12 months. (Which you will find is a good thing if you are considering the FASTer Way to Fat Loss because it is a dairy and gluten free lifestyle) But the FASTer Way definitely eases you into this lifestyle and there is no denying that you will soon deal with less bloat and inflammation. My rings were sliding off by the end of the program!


Let's start with some before and after pictures... I mean that is what everyone wants to see anyway. And take note, I had been on some lifting restrictions while I did my initial rounds so I was doing very light activity and still saw INCREDIBLE results. Most notable was the loss of fat while seeing these lean muscles pop out! I won't lie... I did quite a bit of flexing in front of the mirror every morning as I got leaner.

The Program:


The program utilizes three methods for fat loss. The first is counting Macros instead of calories, intermittent fasting and lastly carb cycling. Before you get overwhelmed, remember they have an app on your phone that tracks all this for you. It is as easy as inputting data, scanning a barcode and looking up a food or restaurant.


During the 6 weeks, you are placed into a private Facebook group with your coach and you get daily post, recipes, encouragement and check ins to check your macros and keep you accountable. The program moved at a good pace. Not too fast and not too slow.


Macros seemed to scary many in my group at first but after a few weeks in, it all started to click. The program is best if you pre-log your food the day before - it makes hitting your macro targets easiest. And for any who are not familiar with macros - it just means counting your protein, fat, and carbs instead of calories. It really shows you just how MUCH you can eat rather than restrictions. I personally was eating a good 600 calories more than my usual each day and I was eating up to 180 g of CARBS some days! Which I won't lie, is scary at first... I was so afraid I would gain weight!


The second strategy was intermittent fasting. I had attempted this years before but was doing it incorrectly. Intermittent fasting when done correctly just means eating on a schedule. The program recommends a 12/12 or 16/8 schedule - meaning you eat for 8 hours and fast for 16 hours. During the eating window you want to be consuming enough macros - so you will get in the calories for any meals missed while in your fasting window. Your body definitely will adjust and as you begin to really hit your macro goals you are able to stay full during those fasting times.


The last strategy of carb cycling was my absolute favorite! We had two low carb days on Monday and Tuesdays in the new client 6 week round and then the rest were regular macro days. The FASTer way definitely promotes having carbs and I was indulging on things that I had told myself were bad for years! Hello all things Potatoes!


As far as workouts, they have a great selection in the app and pair their workouts with whether it's a low carb day (HIIT workouts) or a Regular macro day (strength training). The workouts are under 30 minutes and even have two rest days. I said goodbye to excessive cardio and hello to targeted workouts.


If you like to cook and meal prep, there are meal and snack ideas for every day and the app makes it easy to download them right into your food log. I tried several of them and found them to be tasty and easy to prepare.

VIP PROGRAM


Once you complete the 6 week program, you have the option to continue into the VIP program. It is only $100 and is well worth the money. Honestly, the best results for me were from week 4 to week 12. Your body really gets into a fat burning mode and it is amazing to wake up and feel lighter and lighter every single day. VIP changes up the macros a bit more which is fun and keeps you from getting stuck in a rut!
