Have you found yourself feeling weary these days? Maybe you have faced unfair circumstances or feel guilty about something you’ve done. Or have you sacrificed self-love and your true self for someone or something else? I know I sure have.
Over the past few years and months, I have poured into areas where I am feeling those nudges to do a little more, where I feel my heart leap with passion, and where I need healing in areas of deep hurt. It has taken quite a bit of quiet and soul searching but it has been worth every single minute.
Silence can be a lonely place but it can also be a great place for healing - just you and God. An introvert by nature, I gravitate towards solitude and find healing and my next action steps in the still. I can tap away at the keys, pour into His word, and just be.
However, one of the hardest lessons I have learned in the quiet is that ignoring the toxic behaviors in someone that I deeply love is harmful to both parties. Love should protect. If not, weary becomes the new reality.
Like I Corinthians 13:4-8a says:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails."
So if you are feeling weary, remember that His true love protects you and the ones you love. It can take you from weary to loved.
I sure am thankful that He (God) is mine.
Here are 5 ways His love takes you from weary to well-loved.
1. God's love is unconditional.
When we recognize that God's love is available no matter what, we can begin to step into a life well-loved. You are not your past. You are not what others say about you. You are not your addictions. You are not your illness. You are worthy. You are chosen. You are called. And you matter!
In real everyday life, you must beware of people who are in your circle but are not necessarily in your corner.
However, once you experience the one greater, you surround yourself with an outward and inward security circle with God as the head. The storms and trials will still come knocking at your door; however, less of your strength will be required as more of Him takes over.
His unconditional love multiples around you and helps you protect those you love. As you regain your self-love through Him, you will see you are worthy and you will desire to share His love with others. Love in action produces abundance to all who partake.
Remember tough love hurts; yet, tough love protects. It humbles your pride and allows Him to strengthen your innermost being. He saves you from your toxic behaviors and gives you new confidence as you step out protected by His love.
2. God's love is both an action and a noun.
God loves us. (Action) God is love. (noun)
I John 4:8: "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
It is easy to repeat verses and never fully understand their depth. It is in experiencing and connecting with Him that we begin to feel the inward working of love. Love is poured out in the midst of those tears you shed that no one sees. Love can be found in the heartache you feel over someone you love. Love meets you in the darkest places. Love wraps His arms around you when the void feels too deep. Love protects. And love lives in you.
3. God's love increases over time.
How many times do we experience the reality that the new wears off over time? Our human body, our automobiles, our homes, our jobs, our marriages... the new all starts to wear off and we soon find ourselves feeling a bit less loved. The mystery of a new romance is the spark that leads you off on a path of bliss. However, we all know that with time, the mystery fades, and real-life sets in.
With God, His mystery remains. There are still so many unknowns and so many ways He shows up day after day surpassing anything we could have dreamed. His love is in the chills that go down your spine as a friend says or does something only God could have orchestrated. His love is in healing that spouse that you thought was hopeless. His love is that child that returns to the fold. His love is the embrace felt in those lonely tears. His love forever remains and grows each day.
4. God's love keeps no record of wrongs.
What keeps us from loving others with Christ-like love is often us keeping a record of their wrongs. We see people for their past, we see them for the ways they hurt us, and we silently push people further and further away.
This is the hardest aspect for me. Maybe you can relate?
Learning to use the Master's Magic Eraser should be seen as the highest honor. Pray for the ability to blot out another's fault towards you and to show them genuine love. Pray to see someone not for the hurt they've caused but for the hurt they may be experiencing in secret places. This is His love in action through you.
Remember that box of magic erasers we want our Saviour to keep on overflow for us, needs to also be on automatic refill in your life. Pray for His love to cover your hurts and to allow you to love others while keeping no record of their wrongs.
How powerful His love truly is...
5. God's love will make a way.
So here you sit, weary. Tired of the journey and tired of the pain. You are praying for a plan and doubting the impossible. Here's a little reminder today, that with a heaping dose of His true love, you will forever be thankful that He is mine.
All my days I will be thankful You are Mine.
Mine in the valley and mine on the mountaintop.
Mine in the tears and mine in the laughter.
Mine in the pain and mine in the healing.
Mine in the loss and mine in the abundance.
No matter the journey, my hand You will hold,
and together with love, You'll forever Be Mine.
